“I’m glad for them,” said Edelgard. She’d yet to meet Lysithea’s parents, since they were still settling into their new lives and she couldn’t justify travel anywhere outside of Adrestia unless it was to Derdriu or Fhirdiad, but from everything Lysithea had told her, they seemed like good people, and she wished them the best.
And, in some secret corner of her heart, she envied them. She thought of them, relinquishing their power and their feudal obligations and settling down to a quiet life together, a life of planting apple trees and watching the sunsets.
