Summary
Mike and Will are not completely new to intimacy. They show each other affection constantly. Be it holding hands, bumping knees, kissing, compliments, pet names, leaving hickeys.
But that's where it stops.
They've talked about sex, discussed their feelings on it, agreed that they want to do it together, whenever they're both ready for it. And for a while, that was it.
It never came up again, and they both felt content with it. Maybe it'll come naturally, work out, like things usually do with the two of them.
Only lately something has shifted. Neither of them is sure when and how it happened, but things have started to heat up.

“You’re going to throw it out right?” Will was caught off guard. Was he?
“Mike, it’s just a phone number not a proposal.”
“Still.” Will couldn’t understand why Mike was reacting this way to a simple phone number. Maybe Mike was fine with Will being gay in theory but not when he acted upon it.
“How long have you had the cup?” Will blushed yet again.
“Since this morning. I didn’t know what to do with it.”
Mike looked even more upset than he was before, his eyes were searching Will’s as if they were begging for an explanation.
“You didn’t know what to do with it?” He whispered, and something in his voice made Will feel ashamed, like he had been caught doing something he shouldn’t have been doing.

"Mike had noticed him because he was hard not to notice. He looked just so... Gentle.
Will moved through campus like someone trying not to disturb the air around him, while everyone else seemed determined to reinvent themselves at maximum volume in the new environment they were on at the campus, Will existed quietly at the edges of rooms, soft and careful and entirely self-contained.
And, unfairly enough, he was probably one of the prettiest people Mike had ever seen in his life."
Will doesn't speak. He decided to stop using his voice for his own personal reasons, but slowly, he starts to think that maybe it wouldn't be bad at all if he decided to use his voice again. Maybe that talkative boy– Mike, from Creative writing, might be the first person to prove him he was wrong about that part of himself.
Of a boy that after going through a lot of pain stopped using his voice as a defense mechanism, and a boy who can't stay quiet for long because his thoughts overwhelm him.
