“Come back to me,” Optimus repeated, voice soft.
Megatron’s optics brightened. He reached out and clasped his conjunx’s hands, large servos gentle around them.
“Always,” he promised.

Optimus’s staticky voice echoed through the comm. “Megatron—? What’s happening—?!”
Then darkness.
The ship shattered the atmosphere.
