Summary
Chu Wanning cuts a sharp, impressive figure against the window, bowed over a repurposed reading stone and a set of gravers. His hair sits low on his neck in a haphazard bun – he must have thrown it up while Mo Ran was out and couldn’t make it neater for him – and the sleeves of his underrobe have been rolled up to his elbows with a measure of impatience, but somehow he makes it all look graceful anyway.
Darling of the heavens, the other Sisheng Peak elders used to call him. Any belated jealousy that Mo Ran might have felt about that has long washed away by a sense of agreement – yes, I know Wanning looks heaven-sent – but it also helps that he is the only one who gets to be on this mountain, in this cabin, standing in the doorway of this bedroom, watching Chu Wanning work and knowing what's happening underneath.

Summary
Chu Wanning misses his usual train by mere seconds, and has to wait for the next one, which is-of course-delayed. He stands awkwardly on the platform, attempting to use his satchel as a shield against the light breeze threatening to lift up the hem of his skirt. It is on the short side of professional, but he had not put much thought into what he grabbed from the never-ending pile of laundry waiting to be put away. But as he feels the tickle of air on the bare skin beneath his skirt, Chu Wanning has to curse his sleep-addled brain for managing to forget underwear of all things.
