Summary
Edward left and now Stede, Izzy and the crew of the Revenge are on their own, sailing the ocean without destination. Stede thinks it's a good time to relax, Izzy does not.
From the story:
In their current situation it would have been wiser to avoid these waters altogether.
But of course, the captain wasn’t a wise man.
Well… technically one of the captains. ‘Cause of course this ship had something as dumb as two captains. Even though Edward had fucked off to be a fisherman or whatever the hell his nonsense mind was focused on at the moment. Maybe he’d be back, maybe he was gone forever. Either way Izzy didn’t give a fuck anymore. He had already given the man too much of himself, both metaphorically and literally.

Summary
Fencing is one of the few things that has been suggested to Vimes by Lady Sybil which he has categorically vetoed. He has always been vaguely aware of the idea that exercise and adrenaline can be good for blowing off certain kinds of steam – and to be fair, throwing himself in the general direction of armed criminals had been almost as much of a recurring habit as the drinking prior to his marriage. He understands, hypothetically, why she wants him to give it a go. It makes a certain amount of sense. It's just that fencing is not, as far as he can tell, dangerous, and most of the techniques used seem far more concerned with showing off than with practicality.

Summary
Quite by accident, Vimes finds Vetinari in a bit of a predicament as he negotiates with some "foreign ambassadors". Unfortunately, it's not the sort of predicament that one necessarily escapes unscathed. Vetinari is predictably Vetinari about it all, and Vimes just doesn't hold with that sort of thing.
