Summary
All Aegon has ever known is his mother's fear and rage, his father's cold indifference, and his grandfather's blind ambition. Unable to handle eternally falling short of their exceptions, or to face the threat of war on the horizon, he buries himself in his vices in order to cope, and waits for the world to be set aflame by the King's passing.
Until Helaena gives him some advice that changes the course of his life, and the future: try and revive his old bond with his nephew, Jacaerys. If Aegon can convince him that he is no threat, then maybe Rhaenyra and the rest of the realm will believe it too.
And if that means sneaking out to Dragonstone on Sunfyre? Learning more of his eldest sister and her family then he has ever before known? Realizing how kind and brave, smart and maybe even beautiful Jace is? And if those things together, shift the course of the Dance of Dragons, and House Targaryen forever?
Well, who could have foreseen that?

Aegon accidentally joins the Blacks, falls in love, and fights a war, not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Aegon had loved the idea of having a soulmate, until reality came crashing down on his head. His sister wouldn't wait for her ascension to the throne to kill him, not once she knew, and Aegon wasn't so sure he wouldn't welcome the execution rather than deal with his own mother.
Jacaerys. Of course it was Jacaerys. The gods must truly want him to suffer.

Summary
Alternate paths I almost took in Secret. What ifs and maybes that simply didn't work, but I wrote enough of to share anyway.
Featuring Rhaenyra tending to Aegon in the Stepstones after his injury, Aegon waking up to Otto instead of Jace after he fled Rhaenyra's chambers, and other goodies.
These are very much NOT compliant with the main fic, and generally quite rough.

Summary
Rhaenyra and Laenor both knew the backlash that would undoubtedly occur should they not have a trueborn heir of their own, likely courtesy of the Hightowers. So they get...creative. Harwin very much enjoys laughing at both of them.
(A cup and funnel, a turkey baster, they'd tried it all. Things finally worked out when Harwin offered to help them. Jacaerys is born with silver-blond hair and the same lilac eyes as his mother.
Alicent...still has feelings about Rhaenyra's sons that most certainly do not stem from jealousy, thank you very much.)
