“Would you come with me?” Simon asks quietly.
“Where?”
“Back out to sea.”
A sharp needle of pain zips up Johnny’s earlobe at his words. He winces, features pinching, but he doesn’t wrench himself away like he would have done before. Johnny lets Simon hold him, leans into the familiar chill of his fingers, hoping it’ll chase away the throbbing pain.
Johnny laughs through it. “I doubt yer captain would be all that welcomin’ of a siren aboard his Jolly Roger.”
The crease between Simon’s brows smooths out. “But if he was?”
Johnny smiles sadly, watching the way Simon’s eyes glint with that pirate greed. That hunger.
Simon is a fool. A sweet, kindhearted, gentle fool of a man and a shitty excuse for a pirate. The thought makes Johnny’s heart clench painfully in his chest.
“Aye,” Johnny says, meeting Simon’s eyes. “I would.”
OR: The countless times Johnny unknowingly aids a pirate captain, and one time he saves him.

Summary
Now, Soap's got a healthy amount of superstition, as much as the next guy. He taps twice on the spines of his sketchbooks before opening and closing them. Wrenches his door handle up whenever he enters his room even though that does nothing to lock it, just because back in his childhood home the front door would stick and that was the only way to make sure it was properly shut before the deadbolt would work.
He offers a mindless, habitual prayer whenever they pass by a roadside memorial. Taps his glass once on the table before drinking when on a night out, whenever he's drinking from something made of glass.
Little things. Simple things he barely thinks about, and no one calls him out on in his team. Just another Soap-quirk, one of thousands of little rituals that every man who risks his life on the daily would do if they thought it would put Lady Luck on their side and let them see another sunrise.
But this…thing. This thing has no explanation. No little ritual to make him stop seeing it. It keeps its distance but in that way a haunted doll in films does - with the implicit knowledge that it will get closer, it will move.

Summary
An alternate first meeting, where Ghost and Soap meet each other in the field under infinitely worse circumstances than either of them would have liked:
Ghost wakes up in a pit under a building with a bomb attached to him, certain he's going to die. Soap, an EOD tech amongst his other specialties, is the only person available to at least try to save him. It should be fraught, and tense, and miserable all around, and it is; a whole lot of Ghost slowly losing his mind while Soap does everything he can to save his life. But it would probably be easier if Ghost wasn't a stress-flirter, and if Soap wasn't the kind of endlessly competent that he loved, and if, by virtue of their situation, they didn't keep ripping open each other's wounds and then patching each other back up again after.

Summary

Caught between public rivalry and private affection, Soap and Ghost must decide whether what they’ve built off the ice is worth making real – before the season, the league, or their own fears tear them apart.

‘I’d do it,’ he insisted, finding Johnny’s hand and squeezing it as much as he could, voice breaking over emotions he was too drugged-up to truly comprehend. ‘Next lifetime?’
‘Aye, Simon,’ Soap nodded, lips wobbling as he was fighting back his tears, fisting Ghost’s hospital gown just a bit more desperately. ‘I’ll take ye up on that.’or
Waiting for too long, holding back in the line of duty, Simon and Johnny get another chance to find our if their banter was ever meant to be something more.

“Spit it out, Kate,” he says flatly. A pain he keeps locked away is on the cusp of sneaking through the cracks of his mind.
She says something then, clearly wanting to get this over with. Something absurd and horrible and cruel. Simon can’t breathe. His ears ring. He stands up in confusion, disbelief. He’s so sure he misheard, he had to have.
“What,” he breathes out. It can’t be true. He saw the bodies. Tommy by the door, his mum slung over the counter, Beth on the couch covering Jo’s dead body. “Laswell, repeat.”
Laswell replies, but Simon can’t seem to focus anymore. He can’t feel his fingers. Why the fuck can’t he feel his fingers? “He’s alive?” He hears himself ask over the sound of his heart pounding.
“Yes, Simon, Joseph’s alive.”
OR
Months after the murder of his family, Simon finds out his nephew is alive and in need of his help. Spurred by his brother's final wishes, Simon takes time off work to help Jo, but finds people trying to help him too. Specifically, John Mactavish, a friend of Price's. A very kind, handsome friend. Simon can't keep his eyes away, but he has to; he has a kid now, and besides, he can't be- He's not gay.

Summary
The crowd was intense tonight. There was a push and pull that added to the thrumming feeling under his skin, only heightened by the small, stolen moments with Ilya. Every time Ilya would glance over, he’d find Shane’s eyes on him and his lips would tick up into a smile. Sometimes, when Ilya was at the other side of the stage, Shane would flick his eyes up to the screen next to them and look at the close up of Ilya’s curls sticking to his skin and the bead of sweat sliding down his neck.
Ilya Rozanov is the charismatic lead singer of Overtime Lights. Shane Hollander plays hockey and doesn't know anything about music. A night in New York leads to the reveal of their secret relationship.

The more he looks, the more he finds. Severed file pathways, corrupted syntax, improperly shelved archives. Needles in a haystack, with the amount of data a mech like Ghost carries around. He should delete the films he’s found and leave the rest to gather dust, stop rifling through his caches and spare his hardware the processing strain.
He doesn’t. He saves the scraps he finds in a private, local directory, and he watches them while he charges, or during transit, or low-power stasis. Starts to feel a bit shameful about the whole thing, as if they’re not his to watch. As if he hasn’t got the clearance to remember his own life.
