L is stuck on a night train for sixteen hours because the weather prevented his plane from taking off. He needs something - or someone - to save him from the crushing boredom.

Matsuda feels the laugh escape from his chest before he can stop it. It’s a small one, not quite even a giggle, but still it escapes him, and both men turn to face the forgotten third member of the party.
“Did I say something?” Light asks, glancing over at him, expression open and genuinely confused.
Matsuda resists the urge to laugh again. Light isn’t often caught speechless. “You two bicker like an old married couple.”

“You can’t be serious.” Still in L’s grip, Light’s eyes grow wide as he realises what L is implying. L stares intently at Light, briefly glancing towards his lips once more, “You’re sick, you know that?”
“So I’ve been told.”
“I wouldn’t ever beg you for anything, let alone that. You’re so full of yourself.”

L makes an observation that hits a little too close, and Light refuses to let it show, but L intends to demonstrate to Light just how easily he can make his resolve crumble.
