Summary
This is what has been on Buck’s mind all summer, the thing that he has not allowed himself to want or to think about. Initially it had been not wanting to linger too hard on something that didn’t seem possible. Then– like he’d said to Chris– the fear of inadequacy that still pulses beneath his chest now, beneath Theo’s weight. For all of these reasons, even as recently as a couple of days ago, he’d pushed the thought aside. It was stored deep in the boxes at the back of his mind, in an inaccessible place.
Now, it’s hanging right in front of him and Theo is wrapped up against him, clinging to him, and–
“I’ll take him,” Buck says.

"I need you," Eddie confesses to the non-existent space between his mouth and Buck's.
A year ago, an admission like that might have taken hours to work up to, now it's second nature.
"How?" Buck asks, because he's always eager to please.
"Like this," Eddie answers. "Hold me up." He wraps his legs more securely around Buck's waist. "Hold me up and fuck me so hard I won't be able to walk."

Summary
“Hey there sweetheart,” Buck says softly to the baby as he adjusts his grip so that she’s resting against his chest. “You’re okay. We’ve got you now.”
The screaming seems to die down the smallest amount.
“I know you’re scared, and you’re probably really confused, huh?” Buck walks her around in a small circle in front of the baby box, bouncing her ever so slightly. “Don’t you worry though, you’re safe here with us. And we’re gonna get you somewhere even safer once the nice DCFS people show up.”
The screaming ever so slowly comes to an almost full stop, little whimpers still escaping her tiny body every now and then.
“That’s it,” Buck encourages her with a smile. “You’re being so brave. Look at you go!”
