Call for help— check his pulse— anything other than just stand there and gawk. But she couldn't move. It was like her brain was no longer connected to her body and she was frozen in place. All she could think about was that he couldn’t join their friends. Ace never prayed once in her life. But in that moment, what ran through her head on repeat was "please, God, not him, too."
Takes place right after “Little Brother” (aka Dally’s death). Ponyboy collapses and is rushed to the hospital. The rest of the gang is left trying to wrap their heads around the fact they just lost two of their family members in one foul swoop

Paul and Darry were reminding him less and less of how he and Johnny were and more of Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy throughout the novel, Pride And Prejudice, which Ponyboy had just started. The only difference is that in the chapter he’s currently reading, Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy are still working through their reasons not to finally fall in love, whereas Darry and Paul have already set aside the differences that prevented them from forming a close relationship.

It's the middle of playoffs and the Centaurs team doctor Terry is doing physicals to make sure no has sustained any injuries that would affect their play. He does Shane's and he sees Shane is slightly underweight then what is normal for him during playoffs. When he brings it up with Shane he brings up the fact that Shane is diagnosed with an eating disorder and tells him that he will have a chat with Shane's therapist and nutritionist on what to do.
Shane does not take this very well.
