The afternoon sunlight spilled onto the rumpled bedding across the large mattress, baking the blankets beneath them and turning their blissful cocoon pleasantly drowsy. Ever since Tartah opened the window for his nightingale, they’ve relished in their time together as if they were away weeks and not two days. As they were now, they've been stretched across the mattress for nearly an hour, trading slow kisses and gentle touches as the town bustled around below them, the jabber of muffled voices and bird song coaxing their weary ears with something less focused or intense as the alert they’ve kept for weeks in the woods.

There was a trail of Qifrey’s blood from the entrance to the door the doctor had disappeared through.
Luckily, he didn’t have long to stand there, numb. The girls appeared moments later.
Olly swallowed, hating that he needed to ask questions from them right now, but also desperately needing to know how yet another test had gone so sideways. He cleared his throat, getting the attention of all four apprentices, and eloquently managed to ask, “…what happened?”

Qifrey and Olruggio figure out what life looks like after the silverwood seed is gone. Fair warning, it starts with a good amount of angst but moves into lots of comfort. Full of yearning all the way through.
You definitely don't have to read the earlier bits in the series - it's all just a series of Olruggio and Qifrey yearning.
