'“Say guys,” Luz weakly clears his throat and calls out from the back of the crowd, “Where is Liebgott?” Lesniewski’s sharp words are still flying from him at rapid speed, drowning out George’s question. Everyone seems to have a hand on Alley, trying desperately to staunch his bleeding until Roe arrives.
George raises his voice to try again as his fingers twist harder into Trigger’s coat. “Guys, where’s Joe?”
This time Winters hears Luz’s pinched voice and stops up short, his head whipping from left to right to take in the group crowded around the makeshift operating table.
