Summary
The door behind her burst open, letting in a wave of cold, startling her so badly she nearly dropped the vial in her hand. She turned, brushing aside a strand of hair that had worked itself free, and froze. Her heart leapt into her throat and stayed there. Relief, so acute it brought tears to her eyes, swept over her.
“Jon,” she breathed, unaware the entire infirmary had gone still, watching the reunion of their king and queen with keen interest. His eyes were wide and dark as he stared at her and, after a moment, he gave her a brilliant smile filled with almost painful relief.

Summary
It was Mrs. Figg who suspected first.
She noticed many things, sitting on her side of her fence with her cats chasing butterflies and nuzzling her ankles, Mundungus and the other watchers dropping by for tea now and then.
Mrs. Figg noticed that Petunia was a nosy bit of work with insecurities hanging from her every harsh angle. She noticed when Dudley learned the word MINE-- the whole neighborhood noticed that one. She noticed that Vernon glared at owls.
She noticed that when Petunia gave Harry a truly horrendous haircut one year, it grew back in at a normal rate. Harry was uneven and weird-looking for ages, hiding under beanies when he could.
When Mrs. Figg had Harry over for carefully miserable afternoons of babysitting, she noticed nothing moved that shouldn't. He didn't accidentally make flowers out of fallen leaves, or levitate anything during tantrums, or turn toys funny colors.
Mrs. Figg called up her mother, interrupting the wizarding bridge game she was winning against the nursing home staff, and asked her how she had known, decades back, that her youngest daughter was a squib.

Summary
What if, when Petunia Dursley found a little boy on her front doorstep, she took him in? Not into the cupboard under the stairs, not into a twisted childhood of tarnished worth and neglect—what if she took him in?
Petunia was jealous, selfish and vicious. We will not pretend she wasn’t. She looked at that boy on her doorstep and thought about her Dudders, barely a month older than this boy. She looked at his eyes and her stomach turned over and over. (Severus Snape saved Harry’s life for his eyes. Let’s have Petunia save it despite them).
Let’s tell a story where Petunia Dursley found a baby boy on her doorstep and hated his eyes—she hated them. She took him in and fed him and changed him and got him his shots, and she hated his eyes up until the day she looked at the boy and saw her nephew, not her sister’s shadow. When Harry was two and Vernon Dursley bought Dudley a toy car and Harry a fast food meal with a toy with parts he could choke on Petunia packed her things and got a divorce.

Summary
Almost every student Gansey talks to tells him about the Lynch brothers in great, often conflicting detail, which just increases his confidence in his choice of Forks as an unofficial vacation spot. If there were mystical goings-on, surely even his dullest peers would have something more interesting to discuss than who's notorious for dumping girls via text (Declan), who apparently thinks he's too good to date (Ronan), and who never seems to notice he's been asked out but is still a total sweetheart (Matthew). Then Gansey actually sees them as he's getting in the lunch line, and it becomes painfully obvious that Forks isn't going to be the haven of relaxation he thought it would be. There is something very, very strange going on, and if the trio of deathly pale, improbably beautiful boys lurking around the outskirts of his public school experience aren't the cause, they are assuredly aware of what is.

Summary
Following Ned and Catelyn Stark’s untimely passing, their eldest daughter steps in to take custody of her five-year-old brother. On the surface, Sansa is taking the new topsy-turvy nature of her life in her usual graceful stride. She grieves privately and thoroughly, and afterwards won’t admit that while raising Rickon is precisely where she wants to be, it’s lonely work nonetheless.
That is, until she meets his playschool teacher: Sweet, caring, I’m-here-for-you, call-me-anytime Jon Snow, who just happens to see right through her — and Sansa can’t help but let him look.

Summary
The Cavalry once killed twenty men with a single pistol, they say.
Or maybe it was fifty.
The Cavalry once killed a hundred men, they say, on other days, around other campfires, these future agents of SHIELD, these gossipy children. On horseback, they tell the freshmen, and snicker. A hundred men.
The number trips off the tongue. The methods vary, the numbers, and they all trip off the tongue easily—what is twenty dead villains? A hundred? A good day's work. We're the heroes, after all.
Fifty, twenty, a hundred—they're all just syllables. All just sizes of victories, not a careful count of gasping faces.
The Cavalry killed twenty—fifty—a hundred men, and Melinda May saw the light go out of each of them.
--
As a child, Melinda would steal the plastic lid off the kitchen trash can, mount it on one arm, and charge out into the backyard to save the world with her plastic shield.(a Melinda May character study)

Summary
Sansa Stark has the perfect life on Alderaan. Although she isn't Force sensitive, she has House Stark's ancient Force lineage that ensures her a match with Joffrey Baratheon. That is, until Ned Stark is outed as a rebel working against the Targaryen Empire.
In exile, Sansa finds herself living on the frozen wasteland of Hoth, a planet devoid of life except for fearsome creatures like tauntauns and direwolves. But there's another secret Ned has been hiding from the Empire: the Stark children are, in fact, Force users.
Jon Targaryen is the Mad Emperor’s grandson being groomed to take the Kyber Throne. An imperial general, he uses the Force to command Rhaegal, one of three legendary dragon-class starships. Jon, a bastard, was never meant to rule until his siblings were killed by rebels.
When the Mad Emperor hears that the Starks are Force-sensitive, he discovers the hidden rebel base on Hoth. He sends Jon there with one order: Burn them all. But bring the Stark children to Coruscant.
It’s time for the two most powerful Force bloodlines in the galaxy to merge.
