Summary
Dennis lays in the bed with a stillness so absolute it feels staged. A ventilator breathes for him in measured sighs, the sound too rhythmic to be human. It almost looks like he’s a kid pretending to sleep in the backseat of his parents’ car, hoping to be carried inside by strong paternal arms.
Robby would do anything for that to be the case. Instead, it is sedation that has smoothed away the sharpness from Dennis’s features.
It is a heart attack that has made him so still.

Dennis Whitaker fails to clear and gets shocked by a defibrillator. He takes it as a punishment for sinful eyes that can't seem to look away from Dr. Robby and decides not to tell anyone. The ER keeps moving, but Dennis's heart doesn't. It terribly, horribly doesn't.

The Five-O Task Force isn't always cut out for the cases that cross their desks and they have to ask for some help. Sadly, those that are in a position to help don't always wish to do so. But Steve McGarrett doesn't take no for an answer and rarely likes to give up control of a situation. He may have finally met his match, but only time will tell.

Grief is making Steve heavy. Not less substantial as it sometimes does to people, but more so. So much so that it feels to Danny like gravity itself has been altered. It’s not helping the feeling that he could get lost in this. But Danny’s so afraid of Steve getting lost... and he’s afraid of what that might mean for them both.
