    Summary

Tiso had a very clear mission: get into Gladiator’s Square, quietly pay a blacksmith to repair his shield, pass over some hush money to keep his identity secret, and get out.

Simple, but not easy, since he was supposed to be dead…

All of this, though, was made even more complicated by the fact that, through some demented chain of events, he had allowed that damned little dungling, the squib, to tag along.

Why, again, did he even agree to this? Dear gods…

    ———————————————————————————————————————————————

TL;DR: Tiso accidentally drags Ghost into a street fight in Kingdom’s Edge, and both come out injured. They pick up more than a few of his bad habits. Hornet is not happy about any of this…

Content warning for fighting and violence.

Pharloom is instantly unkind to the foreign spiderling, starting with shattering her mind, sense of safety, and her leg.

Inspired by a bunch of Hunter's Journal entries where Hornet talks about how much she wants to pet the soft-looking enemies.

    Summary

Quirrel rapped his fingers against the railing of the cold, ornate bench, humming a strangely familiar tune. He turned to the sound of the elevator’s chain clinking, curious to see what other travelers might be wandering this ancient Kingdom.

A sopping wet, tiny figure hopped off the metal box.

    Summary

Hornet burst through Greenpath’s undergrowth, a couple of mosskin cocooned and in tow. She huffed, dissatisfied. She would have to cut her portion again. Ghost emerged, landing softly and holding out an ambloom. They buzzed with pride and glee.

“Nice job, Ghost. We’ll have to head back soon, though.” Hornet complimented, though the worry of not having enough food still nagged at her. She’d figure it out.

Siblings, impossibly many, appeared from behind carts, bushes, and pillars to bring various catches and harvests of their own, offering them up to their sister. Hornet blinked, a bit stunned and at a loss for words.

“Oh, um, I suppose we’ll have enough after all.”

    Ghost closed their eyes, content.

    The dream faded away.

Oh. They were back here. Echoing whispers of judgment rang throughout the Shade Collective. They didn’t really appreciate Ghost’s stronger will asserting their mind over the Others, especially when it came in the form of unwanted, subconscious dreams.

    Summary

    Shiik-sk!

A new, piercing pain opened on the Hollow Knight’s mask. Silk entrapped them from all sides. A voice called a war cry out to the Ghost.

The smaller seized the moment, swinging their Dream Nail at their restrained Sibling.

The small Vessel landed in a strange, golden place. They were exhausted. They wanted to sit down and rest.

But something about this place was wrong. A creeping sense of unease pervaded the air. It was just so damn still.

The Hollow Knight awoke in an empty place.

    The Afterlife was beautiful.

    Summary

The Vessel felt its eyes snap open. They burned with Her familiar fire of hatred and fury. The Radiance snapped them to attention. There was noise—the loud clanking of chains being slashed away by a Nail.

It felt itself falling through the ground. It finally faced the source of the disturbance—another Vessel. Their heart dropped. Not just any Vessel. The familiar inward curve of their horns, ending in two dainty prongs. The dusty bluish hue of their cloak.

The one they left to die at the maw of the Birthplace.

Panic began to set in. Oh Gods. She was really going to force them to fight their own Sibling.

    Summary

This work is a direct continuation of part 1. I suggest you read that first.

When Hornet returned, the Vessel remained in the same position - curled up at the entrance of the chamber. Where would she even start? So much of them was damaged, from their cracked mask (that she helped widen in the fight, she thought with guilt), to the rotten stump of their arm, to their mutilated chest.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

The Temple was just so cold. From the air, to the stone floors, walls and ceilings, to her Void-reanimated sibling dying in her arms. Hornet felt light-headed. She brought her hands up, ready to spin another bandage.

The chitin of her hands had melted entirely off. She couldn’t feel a single thing. That was worse than if she had felt pain.

    Summary

Day 1: Don't Leave Me Here
After the Void Sea has receded, Hornet is left with her broken corpse of a sibling. She's going to need Lifeblood. Lots of it. And Silk. She would make a supply run to her shelter in Greenpath. In and out, quickly. She turns around, ready to leave for the Crossroads. She's stopped by a massive hand frantically grabbing the hem of her cloak.

    Don't Leave Me Here, Please.

During a trip to the Gladiator's Market, Tiso accidentally teaches Ghost to swear and gets them into a bit of a messy altercation. Hornet is NOT happy about either of these things.

    OLD FIC WARNING!!
    This fic has been rewritten:
    https://archiveofourown.org/works/82826186

The story focus changes pretty majorly (same premise, but it was more focused on a different aspect and with better grammar, wording, characterization, formatting, etc.) I'm keeping this version up instead of deleting or orphaning it cause a lot of people still like it + for the sake of archiving.

    Summary

Progeny cursed under ancient promise. Years after the fall, a ghost returns to Hallownest and frees the Knight, who has suffered the burden intended for a God.
Now, the little Ghost has finished their mission and can continue living like they have before—exploring the world at large.
There is one slight problem, though. They have been feeling strange lately; shell too tight, body too hot, strength failing…
Have they gotten infected? Was the price to kill the plague a last infection befalling them?

Hornet wakes up to a mess.
Inky blood spilled; Ghost in pain and unresponsive. Like any good sister, she panics and calls for help.
Is this a consequence of being born a Vessel? Or have they grown sick due to something? She has never seen Hollow get sick… Unless it was by the infection…
Hopefully, it's nothing too bad—they all have had their unfair share of misfortunes already.
So, she does everything she can.

    ----

TL;DR: Ghost is molting, Hornet and Quirrel have no idea what they're doing, and chaos ensues.
