He doesn’t dare grab Parrot’s chin, won’t bring himself to angle their faces and deepen it. The entire kiss lasts with the ephemeral sweetness of a snowflake on a tongue, ready to melt away the second the bell at the door rings.

    They don’t need to exacerbate their differences. It’s bad enough, Spoke’s abnormal smoky skin and Parrot’s two-toned eyes. They don’t need anyone to see this, too.
