Summary
It isn’t the kind of thing that Atsushi expected to walk in on. Dazai holding a meeting in neutral territory -- that wasn’t weird in of itself, the warehouse barren and echoing as Atsushi walked through it. The office door was heavy when he swung it open, but it didn’t creak, nothing but the soft sound of displaced air to announce his arrival.
It was enough: Akutagawa’s eyes dart towards Atsushi for a brief second before they refocus on Dazai like Atsushi isn’t even there.
“Atsushi-kun,” Dazai offers, like Akutagawa isn’t on his knees on the concrete floor, like Dazai isn’t holding Akutagawa’s throat in a vice grip that looks like it could turn deadly in a moment’s notice.
Yeah, the weird part was definitely everything else about this.

It's an accident, for once. He was actually following the Official Household Chore Schedule and doing the dishes while Chuuya was out getting groceries. But one of the plates was slipperier than he expected, and as he attempted to dry it, it fumbled just enough out of his grip to crack against the countertop, chipping a bit off the edge.
It isn’t one of Chuuya’s fancy plates. Dazai is fairly certain that Chuuya has no particular attachment to this dish at all, actually. It’s plain white and utilitarian, part of a larger set.
So Dazai can’t explain why he’s frozen in place, rooted to the floor by some welling emotion he can’t quite pinpoint.
(Alternatively: local brilliant strategist has a slight meltdown over small uncontrollable part of everyday life)

His relationship with Dazai, with occasional romantic undertones, merges with Sakunosuke’s guilt that he needed help from Chuuya. Riddled with the feeling of gratitude and being in debt, he offers Nakahara anything he could want.
Oda’s mind might be pure, but Chuuya’s (and let’s be honest, Dazai’s) is not one bit. He has a very special something in mind to make his boyfriend and his best friend-turned-crush happy. Or at least, satisfied.
