No matter how she tries to word it, the question is going to sound terribly awkward. Even if San Niang is the most trustworthy person Xie Lian knows, she might decide to simply hang up and go back to sleep.
“I wondered… I mean, since then I have been wondering if maybe what Shi Qingxuan was suggesting might not be entirely out of the realm of possibility,” she rushes through this as quickly as possible, squeezing her eyes closed as she speaks. “I don’t really know how to judge what I’m, um, supposed to feel.”
“About… women?” San Niang says, posing the question tentatively.
“Yes,” Xie Lian says, breathing it out.
“Oh,” San Niang says, just as softly. “Okay. Um.”

"A woman, barefoot, wild, and free stands on a beach in the early morning. Her heart shaped lips are split into a grin, freshly brushed teeth wine-stained and minty. Her hair billows like a sail in the beginnings of the morning light, tan skin growing golden as the sun crawls up over the horizon like a bug on a window. She stands not alone, but with a young boy, with a matching smile and small, chubby hands. They're both breathing heavy, but comfortably as they pause in their pursuits of the shore. They only pause for a moment, before suddenly, the little boy takes off again, and the mother hollers before her laughter mixes with the air of the morning sea."

Arthur nodded gravely, every eye in the council meeting upon him. “Camelot is dangerously close to division even now that sorcery is legal. We need someone who will unite us all, and I cannot settle for less. I’ll send riders out at first light chasing rumours and follow up any promising leads we have myself.”
He looked so beautiful when he said it, every inch the king, with the sunlight through the windows turning him gold. His voice had taken on that richness that sometimes infused Arthur’s words – that for the good of the kingdom voice, that let it be so voice, the voice that Merlin had come to understand meant another brick laid on the road to Albion.
Unfortunately, that voice had been co-opted for a fucking farce."

They both make embarrassing noises when their brains catch up to their bodies, moaning into each other's mouths, and then they have to stop for a second to laugh at themselves. "Cute," Xie Lian breathes, "You're so cute, San Lang," and then Hua Cheng puts his hands in his hair and kisses him again, and they stop laughing.

Arthur is the perfect flatmate -- he pays his rent on time, works so much that he’s not even home half the time, and is totally okay with Merlin’s magic. Best of all, Merlin is pretty sure that Arthur has a crush on him -- that is, until he stumbles across a list of things that Arthut hates about him.
Merlin is upset of course, but he pushes aside his feelings to focus on being a better roommate so that Arthur will renew their lease for another year. Most of the things on the list aren’t that hard to correct … so how come Arthur seems to get more and more annoyed as Merlin improves his behaviour?
