Summary
It's not very often that something exciting happens in Kaeya's life. In the big city, being another face in the crowd is all part of the plan. Only people like The Court of Thieves, a notorious group who specialize in making spectacles out of their heists, could ever leave their mark on the world. Luckily for the down on his luck barista, the one on their case just so happens to be a regular where he works and it just so happens that the two get along real well.
It's perfect, almost scripted, but no one cares what goes down backstage to make the show happen. It'll ruin the magic, afterall.

Well, there was a first time for everything he supposed. Was he really so hopeful? Did he truly desire something so fleeting? He did not know how to argue the point, so he settled for the shrug of his shoulders. “I suppose you would know better than I.”
Kaeya’s smirk grew, and Albedo memorized the laugh that came after.

She leans in closer to sink the soft curls of chrysanthemum into the Shogun’s throat. Reflected in the kitsune’s eyes, Ei sees a mirror image of herself, frozen in time, lips sweetly and peacefully curved into a light smile, unperturbed by the experience as though Miko were feeding her dessert.
“Why...?” The reflection shimmers as well-contained tears finally start to well up in those eyes. “Why did it have to be you..?”
Ei travels backwards in time.

Etched onto the young man’s skin in blazing gold, right in the center of his throat, is the four-pointed star of Khaenri’ah.
Or, in the middle of a blizzard, Kaeya finds a boy with a four-pointed star on his throat and eyes that hold galaxies.
It changes everything.

Summary
The first time Kaeya meets Albedo, his revulsion is rooted in instinct and remains thus. He remembers it distinctly, how he’d been tasked with welcoming the new member to their ranks at the Ordo. He did not expect to find a small, pretty blonde with his designation as an alchemist explicitly marked in the pattern in his eyes, the signatory of a past Kaeya tries to escape emblazoned boldly at his throat.
“You must be Sir Kaeya,” The man considers, teal gaze raking over Kaeya in a way that feels like live electricity rippling over his skin. When he stops, eyes locked with Kaeya’s, a recognition flashes there that the Cavalry Captain laments. Albedo smiles, a soft, curling thing.
“I look forward to working with you.”
To Kaeya, it sounds like a threat.
or: kaebedo enemies to lovers, but it's mostly kaeya being the enemy and albedo being the lover.
