Steve’s stupid idea to get a little gift for Bucky ends up triggering a spiral of events, that lead them both on an intertwined rollercoaster of emotions. And now that his emotions are unable to stay buried within it’s usual bottle, Rogers has no idea what to do with everything seeping out of it’s cracks.
On one hand, there’s confusion. Confusion, fear, and helplessness. Emotions that come with such pain, shame and jealousy, that it weighs him down like a heavy blanket in summer, suffocating him with it’s inescapably thick heat- until he’s left choking on his own breaths.
On the other hand, there’s bliss. Lightheaded bliss that’s laced with passion, awe, and the irresistible feeling of being lovestruck for another man, who’s smile could light up the firecracker in any weak soul. Every spark fueled him with the heat of life and ecstasy itself.
Unlike Bucky who relied on his instincts, winking and dancing his way through every problem he faced so effortlessly, Steve was much more of a worrier. An overthinker. An anxious, emotional mess, desperately trying to hold onto both sides of his heart and keeping them pieced together;
