"No way! Is this your boyfriend?", she holds a hand out for Kenma to take, who stares at her from underneath his eyelashes, not bothering to fully lift his head. Kuroo can't tell if he has even paused his game. "It's so nice to finally meet you!"
Kuroo sees his life flash before his eyes. Bokuto and Oikawa are uncharacteristically silent across from him.
"Right!", Kuroo chuckles nervously. He can feel Kenma's gaze on him now, sharp and curious. Sweat gathers at his temples. "This is Kenma."
Backed into a corner, Kuroo tells the entire student body that he's dating his best friend. Surely, this won't have any consequences.

That part is easily the most frustrating—the fact that Kenma hasn’t outright rejected any of Kuroo’s subtle (or obvious) advances. He doesn’t shove him away when he leans his head on his shoulder, he doesn’t wrinkle his nose in disgust when he’s asked for more hugs than normal dude friends give, and he doesn’t yell at him when he gives him the fiftieth compliment of the day.
That being said, however, he doesn’t further any advances either. There’s no trademark “oh yeah? Make me”, followed by disgustingly lewd tongue sucking, no kabedon where someone gets pinned to the wall with eyelashes fluttering and hooded stares, not even a cheesy “pucker up, buttercup."
The only time Kuroo can’t read Kenma is in the one scenario he needs to be able to read him in. All those micro expressions and subtle twitches are thrown out the window the second Kuroo toes the line of friendship, and he thinks if the people in charge of his fate were any crueler, they’d have him start hawking up flower petals in the damn toilet.
