Clark is broad-shouldered, and impossibly kind; a believer in things Bruce turned his back on the day of his parents’ funeral.
Bruce is skeptical, Clark is steadfast. Their ideologies clash from the moment they sit across from one another: billionaire pragmatism versus the faith of a priest. But somewhere between coloring books at Clark’s desk and quiet invitations to community fairs, a dangerous warmth grows. Bruce doesn’t know how to name it, and Clark doesn’t dare.
Because whatever is happening between them - it shouldn’t. Bruce pushes, searching for the language he can’t bring himself to say aloud, while Clark whispers what he shouldn’t confess at all: I can’t. Too earnest, too desperate, too willing to kneel if it means being near him.

“Say bye to daddy, Rin,” Izuku cooed ridiculously, lifting one of her mittened hands like it was waving bye to Katsuki.

Circulation thrums directly against Clark’s chest, strong arms clinging to his neck, as if holding onto a lifeline that Bruce knows wouldn’t snap. There are lapping waves of gratification building in Clark's gut, his fingers dig just a bit more into Bruce’s torso.
