Summary
The upper half of Wei Wuxian’s face emerges from the dark water, wet black hair straggling in tendrils all over him like lakeweed, the shape of his mouth and nose and body distorted by the reflective surface into vague shapes below. He stares at Jiang Cheng, holding himself with odd, uncharacteristic stillness.
Jiang Cheng treads in place, first with a vengeance, then more slowly. “Wei Wuxian,” he says.
Then Wei Wuxian laughs and surges fully up from the water. “Jiang Cheng,” he says, mimicking Jiang Cheng’s tone. “Come swim!”

Jiang Cheng promises to swim one race with his shixiong. It’s been a long time, after all.

“No, I got that— but— what? Is this real?” Jaehyun grabs Woonhak’s phone out of his hands, squinting at the webpage he has pulled up. He scans over the information— For charity! All expenses paid!
“Oh, it’s real, and I’ve already put your name in three times,” Woonhak confirms. He snatches his phone back. “It’ll be four if you give me five more dollars.”

The air in the room seemed to stall for a second.
Sanghyeok frowned, confused. He looked around at his beige sofa and the simple rug that had seen better days. He scratched the back of his neck, feeling a sudden, inexplicable itch under his skin.
"Well," Sanghyeok mumbled, averting his gaze to the floor. "It’s not really that pretty of a place, though. The heating acts up in December, and the water pressure is moody."
Jaehyun blinked, as if snapping out of a trance. His eyes widened slightly, the intense focus dissolving back into that golden-retriever friendliness.
"Oh," Jaehyun laughed, a short, breathy sound. "Yeah. Right. The place. The place is pretty too."

Jaehyun is still smiling at him, looking at him, and in a way, the feeling of his eyes is far more obtrusive than the glaring sun. "You're staring," he mutters. Jaehyun matches his tone when he responds.
"You're pretty," he states, simple, and not quite loud enough to be heard by anyone else— is it part of the performance, or is it just for him? Dongmin would like to not think about it, but he is. Suddenly, his chest hurts and his head feels heavy.
