Did she think that Madeline didn’t know all of this? Did she think that Madeline hadn’t spent the past week—past forever—hating herself for it?
“That’s in the past now,” Madeline said, and she really hoped that it didn’t show how upset she was right now because Helen needed her to be stable and that wasn’t possible if she burst into tears at the first bit of well deserved insults.

“Com—” Her voice cracks, and she clears her throat. “Come in!”
“Nice save,” Agatha whispers sarcastically.
“Shut up,” the girl snaps, whipping her head around to shoot Agatha a glare that could kill, hissing through her teeth.
Then, the door creaks open slowly, the sound dragging out in the thick silence. Every second feels like an eternity to Agatha, her heart pounding in her chest as she holds her breath, staring at the door. The anticipation is unbearable, the tension in the air palpable.
And then, she sees her.

Summary
Beginning just after the end of "A Friend in Need," this story finds a way for Xena and Gabrielle to have their baklava and eat it too. Sometimes it pays to have a Greek god who's halfway at least in love with you.
Or: how we get Xena back without invalidating her sacrifice.
Note: I tagged it for Major Character Death because, well, because "A Friend in Need," but the whole point of the story is fixing that, so....
