    i read this for the first time way back when it only had 650~ kudos - and i remember that because right after i was finished and still absolutely captivated by the whole story and the world building and the EFFORT both parties had to put into the relationship and this whole deep complexity and emotional story, i was appalled it only had six hundred some kudos. such a joy to see it propelled to the top now. i knew it would be a hit. genuinely one of my favourite IF NOT THE favourite severitus fic out there. always a reread

    I mean - it's fantastic, of course. I first read this when I had never seen a lick of GOT (a bad habit of mine, to jump into fandoms and have to do the research mid-story) but it thoroughly ruined me for the canonical plot. Where to even start? The relationship between Tywin and Arya is...beyond wonderful. So gratifying to see it develop and the ending really does get me teary eyed. The main romantic pairing, without giving too much away, is so complex and interesting and a great political maneuver that feels entirely realistic. They're also very sweet and I fear it gave me a hankering for the pairing that, due to its rarity, I will never sate. Tense and well thought out and gripping, the plot kept me enthralled for 400k+ words. I thank the good lord I can read so quickly because I devoured this again and again in the span of a day and I can't get tired of it. I feel like I should pay the lovely Kallypso to read this. Anyway. Fan or not, you need to read this. It certainly converted me.

    just an utter feel good. after everything I needed this. well written and soft and in character, the dialogue had me giggling so many times and I audibly went "aww" for a bunch of it. low-key this is wholly canon to me now and I am severely displeased I never got any of this in the anime or manga. reread for sure.

    The girl wasn't afraid but she had not been given permission to speak so she said nothing. The man tilted his head to the side, smile fading to a confused pout.

    "Aren't you going to scream?" he asked.

    The girl said and did nothing.

    His hand tightened around her throat, strong enough it cut off her breath. She did nothing, even when her vision began to blacken as her lungs struggled and twisted from the lack of air. After a moment his hand relaxed and she took a breath, but made no attempt to push away from him or fight his grip.

    "That's strange," the man said, "Are you really not afraid?"

    She blinked but did not respond. His hand loosened around her throat until he was pressing his bloody index finger against her neck, sensing her pulse. It was as steady and calm as it had ever been since that day she became empty and hollow.

    "Well, aren't you interesting. I think I'll keep you," the man decided.

    I think this is my favourite kny fic I've ever read. Blisteringly in character, wonderfully written, entertaining, paced well, and interesting every step of the way. I'm beyond a huge fan of Douma and his weird little parenting and how fun the relationship between him and ino and kanao are. Every time I glanced at the chapter count I got sadder because it meant I was coming to the end and I didn't want to stop reading genuinely a masterpiece. Also hilarious how many times I genuinely went "aww that's so cute...despite [insert horrific thing] having just happened." Looking forward for the infiltration arc, even if I'm stressed about who will live or if they succeed or fail. Hoping that we get to see a faint crisis on Douma's part about the fact that he does care for his kids. Rec and reread for sure

    Douma is given a second chance at life. In his pursuit to keep the timeline the same as it was before so he could meet Shinobu and feel emotion again, he messes a few things up. Relationships shift, discoveries are made and he might be feelings things he hadn't felt the first time around. But the road taken shouldn't matter too much as long as Shinobu is waiting at the end, right?

    obsessed with this!! Every time I find a quality Douma fic like this it only deepens my enjoyment and justification for loving this freak. Huge fan of the subtlety of the evolution of his emotions and especially the way his personality and dialogue is written - I can hear it perfectly! So well characterized. Genuinely beyond a pleasure to see his bonding with gyutaro and ume and that relationship building; super curious about how it will change as they level up and how Douma is going to navigate this new different past of his. Such a shame that it hasn't been updated in a couple years, actually hurts my soul because its so unbelievably good. Will be stalking the rest of the authors kny and specifically Douma fics. Reread!
