Summary
A heavy coat fell over his shoulders, the second-hand warmth making a shiver run through his body, and he turned away from the street, catching Li Lun as he sat down beside him on the steps, looking out to the dying crowd and the growing storm.
“Why are you so cold again?” Li Lun huffed out into wind.
Zhu Yan conceded the impulse to smile, as he pulled the coat tighter, feeling white tufts of fur collar tickle his face. He didn't look back to the street instead letting his eyes linger on his oldest friend, watching the rainfall reflected in the corners of his eyes.
“Stop pretending to be one of them, it makes you look weak and ridiculous”
“It’s exciting”
“Ridiculous.”
Zhu Yan laughed gently. “Well, I'm warm now”

Summary
“That was fucked.”
“Yeah. Yours, too.” George eyed him, the harsh lines around his mouth softening. “Still don’t believe in luck?”
What could Max say to that? Because whatever it was, this long string of complete and utter fuck-ups for them both since the season started, could completely be explained away logically. Mistakes happen. Engines fail. Science had its limits. Human errors, as it were, were aplenty. But George’s run—George’s run had been, without exaggeration, monumentally fucked, as if everything that could possibly go wrong did, and Max understood statistics, to a point, but even he couldn't help giving it a second thought.
But he wasn’t going to tell George that. Max continued to track the seagulls and the cormorants and watched them in their formations, and George finally commented, breaking the silence, “You’re into augury now, too.”
“The what?”
“Telling omens by birds.” The ghost of a smile passed through George’s face. “What? I can watch documentaries too.”

Summary
Their faces are separated by a few centimeters when they come to a halt. A glance to his left tells George that the door is not entirely closed. Someone could walk in on them. Unlikely, though not impossible if someone of the mechanics, or worse the demon on Max's shoulder, were to notice their golden boy's absence.
“Come now,” George probes further. “Tell me, what do you want? I promise, you'll get it just this once. Your championship reward.”
or: Max wins his fifth title. George is mostly nice about it.

Summary
Who would’ve guessed that underneath all that hard, tough bravado, Max is kind of a crybaby? He’s got issues aplenty and emotional baggage for days.
All he wants is a shoulder to cry on.
Until he doesn’t, and suddenly what he wants is a lot more than what Daniel can provide.
Or: The one where Daniel Ricciardo is accidentally Pavlov-conditioned to get hard every time Max Verstappen starts crying.
