"I want to read it," Jiang Cheng said as he tried to wrestle the letter out of Wei Ying's hands.
Wei Ying held it over their heads. "It's addressed to me, and I will throw it in the pool."
They were in Jiang Cheng's bedroom, a full ten blocks from the community pool where they were spending the summer lifeguarding. Still, this was enough of a threat that Wei Ying could take advantage of Jiang Cheng's momentary hesitance to scramble up the ladder to the top of the bunk bed. Wei Ying had long experience keeping Jiang Cheng at the bottom with swinging feet. "DEAREST YINGYING, ORCHESTRA CAMP IS TRULY DREADFUL WITHOUT YOU HERE. I FIND MYSELF BORED TO TEARS—"
"Huaisang did not write that!"
"Shut up, I'm READING."
In the present, Wei Ying finds himself separated from his family and friends when he travels to help Lan Zhan move into a new home.

Lan Zhan glanced at him with a heavy gaze that Wei Ying couldn’t parse. The last thing he said before remaining silent for the rest of their walk was, “Amongst other things.”

he eyed the lycan strap with a knot at the base — the newest one in their collection. it had sort of been a gag gift from satoru, who called him puppy enough to make it a thing, but they hadn’t had the opportunity to use it yet. it was a beast. he guessed it was about nine inches total, and it was a blood red color with a black base. the more he looked at it, the more he knew it was the right choice for the night.
he fixed it into the harness in his boxers, and made his way back to bed.

"Hey!"
Something prickles at the back of her neck—Rumi glances in the direction of the sound just to confirm that yes, that was aimed at her.
The source, a short woman with a lopsided smile, rolls slowly up to them on a skateboard. She comes to a smooth stop with a sneaker and adjusts her hat with one hand. The other disappears into the pocket of her baggy cargo pants as she leans casually to the side, stopping her board with one foot.
She says something else, probably. Her mouth is certainly moving—but it's kind of hard to focus on that when her freckles are so pretty and when her big brown eyes look up at Rumi with the sunlight reflecting perfectly in them. Really, it's hard to think of anything at all but those pink lips and the blunt nails that play with the rim of her cap.
Rumi blinks in a bit of a daze.
"Hey," the woman says again. "You lost?"
Or: Rumi and Mira get lost on vacation. The good news is that Zoey is more than happy to help.
