The first time, Hifumi had been surprisingly considerate, subtly testing the waters to see where Doppo's limits end and pushing those limits ever so slightly. What Doppo had always assumed to be immovable stone turned to soft, pliable gold, just like everything else Hifumi touches. Inversely, Hifumi is the one grounding solid in a life Doppo feels otherwise displaced within.

Jakurai is not a trained psychologist, but he's experienced enough in life to take an educated guess as to how to get to the root of Doppo's problem in order to begin eating away at it. He can't magically fix him, but perhaps he can light a candle so Doppo can see down the road to recovery.
