It was something natural, and Dunk stilled when he breathed it in.

“I would ensure there is no question of succession.”
“And you trust him in this?” Baelor asked, unable to keep the edge from his voice.
Maekar did not so much as blink. “I trust what can be made of him.”
Or, Baelor survives the tourney and the Great Spring Sickness.His father, his wife, his sons, do not.

The joke was on him, a bitter lesson learned too late. Aerion should have walked away. The bird's wings were not truly broken, and the wretched cat had been left clawing at empty air, caught by the talons instead.
Or, Aerion only wanted a purse full of silver. Getting caught by Prince Duncan was not part of the plan.
