    Summary

Steve throws a dejected look at the clock. 9:25pm. Saturdays are usually the busiest night of the week, and Steve actually enjoys working the closing shift. People tend to be in a better mood when they're choosing their weekend entertainment than at 9am on a Monday when they're returning something that their five year old kid should definitely not have watched and they're trying to blame Steve for it even though they specifically picked something from the Adult Horror section (looking at you, Mr Edmonton.)

Not tonight, though. Tonight, Corroded Coffin is in Hawkins giving a concert and suddenly the whole town is made entirely of metal fans.

Or, Steve doesn't go to the show. He meets Eddie Munson anyway.

    Summary

The kiss is brief, only a second or two, not even long enough for Steve to really register what's happening before Eddie pulls away. Steve’s frozen in place, his arms still wrapped around Eddie.

Steve blinks down at him. "What?" he says stupidly. What?

Eddie closes his eyes, a weak smile on his lips. "Something to remember me by."

"You're not dying," Steve says. It feels like his mouth isn't attached to his brain anymore; the inside of his head is a dial tone.

"Of course I am," Eddie says, eyes still closed. "I'm dying right now."

"You're not, though." His voice keeps getting higher, for some reason. "You're not going to die here."

"Spare me the pity, Harrington, I know—"

"You're literally not dying right now." His whole body is hot. Is he sweating? "You lost some blood but they didn't get deep enough—I looked—you're going to be fine."

There's a pause. "I'm going to be fine?" Eddie asks, voice also going high and thin. "You're—sure?"

    "Yes."

"Fascinating. Great. Are you—could you do me a favor, then, and maybe just—leave me here anyway?"

"What?" Steve says. The dial tone gets louder. "No. Why?"

"No reason," Eddie says, voice tight.

    Summary

The first thing to go is the wallpaper.

The walls are the same as they were when Barbara got taken, that same white and blue checkered pattern he’s followed with his eyes for endless hours after every stint in the Upside Down, after Billy Hargrove and the pack of demodogs and the terrifying nightmare of the underground russian base, and Steve can’t stop himself from shivering in his sweat-soaked pyjamas, tossing the covers to the side as he rolls off the bed. He can feel his heartbeat in his throat, and his vision is blurry around the edges, skin stretched tight over whatever the fuck is brewing inside his body.

His gaze snags on the edge of the wallpaper, the little corner that is folding up under the light switch and Steve—he rips it off. Claws at it with the type of blind fury he’s grown intimate with.

This is what he’s good at.

OR: Steve inherits a house that has never felt like a home. He starts fixing what’s broken, finds help in unlikely places, and somewhere between paint cans and late-night talks, he learns how to build something that lasts.

    Summary

Honey-brown eyes blink delicately at the menu above Steve’s head, teeth tugging at his lower lip in contemplation. The man runs a hand through long brown hair, bringing a lock of the curls in front his face, hiding his features. Steve stares at him as he analyzes the menu, notes how his lashes are long and pretty. Steve swallows thickly.

“I…” Steve begins, and the man raises an eyebrow at him, grin growing wider. “Hi,” he deadpans, and mentally facepalms.

    Or,

Steve Harrington is a pastry chef, who owns a small little cafe/bakery in the middle of downtown Indy. One day, a man walks in, and quickly become Steve's favorite customer.
