And now Derek looked suspicious. Which was just—rude. So rude. Stiles was the very picture of innocence! How could he possibly think Stiles was up to something?!
“Like what?” Derek asked.
“Well,” Stiles said, dragging the word out while stretching his arms forward on the table until he could close his hands around both of Derek’s. “My friend Mieka and I have been bonding over the past few months, and she just got a puppy, and she thought it might be fun for the two of us to bring our dogs to the dog park right outside town.”
Derek stared at him exceptionally hard. “You don’t have a dog.”
“I—why are you and dad the same?” Stiles let Derek’s hands go to throw both arms in the air. “Yes, Derek, I am aware I don’t have a dog!”
“So what exactly is this conversation leading to?” Derek asked, crossing his arms over his chest and looking thoroughly unimpressed.
Stiles licked his lips before pressing them together, trying to think of the best way to word this before blurting out, “In my defence, it was entirely dad’s idea! I wanted to steal a dog from the clinic!”

“That’s not my problem.”
“Uh, kind of is!” Stiles argued. “We’re gonna miss the beginning of the movie, and won’t know what’s going on. Hurry up, let’s go!” He motioned him down yet again, and Derek scowled.
“Why do you keep saying ‘we’ as if I have any intention of going anywhere with you?”
“Because you are coming to this movie, or I will stay out here all night screaming.”

Summary
The only reason he and Derek Hale had started dating after dancing around the topic for like, four years was because Derek had finally bit the bullet and asked him.
He was pretty sure Derek had expected Stiles to reject him. He’d looked so tense, and so stoic while asking him that during the leadup, Stiles had been waiting for him to say someone had died. When he finally got the words out, it took a solid twenty seconds for Stiles’ brain to switch gears and realize this was good news, and Derek was just building up his defences for a negative response.
Too bad for him, because Stiles had jumped him. Not sexually, but he had legitimately jumped him, wrapping both arms and legs around the older man like an octopus and demanding to know why Derek had taken so fucking long to ask.
Derek had returned—after the shock wore off—that Stiles could’ve just asked him if he felt the same way, and that was when Stiles realized people were their own worst enemies sometimes. They’d both loved one another for so long, but until Derek had been brave enough to say something, neither of them had done anything about it.

I can’t sleep :(He knew staring wasn’t going to make Derek respond any faster—if he was even awake this time—but he kept the message open anyway, waiting. After a solid minute, he was pretty sure Derek was asleep, and was about to put his phone back down when he finally saw the three dots appear, denoting that he was typing.
Waiting, he knew Derek had to be typing and deleting things, because he spent much too long typing for the two words he sent in response over thirty seconds later.

“Derek,” Stiles whined, stretching the vowels out much more than was necessary.
“What?”
“I’m so hot.”
“And?”
Stiles reached out one hand to smack blindly towards Derek’s face. He missed entirely for about five smacks before giving up and smacking him in the side instead. Derek didn’t react, because it hadn’t been intended to hurt him, just show him Stiles was displeased with his lack of sympathy.
He knew it was all a very unsubtle way to convince Derek to buy a portable A/C unit, but he refused. Not because he wanted Stiles to suffer, but because if Stiles was comfortable, he wouldn’t wander around the loft in his underwear. Derek was not going to give up having a mostly naked boyfriend parading around the place.
Did that make him an asshole? Probably, but Stiles knew what he was signing up for when they started dating two years ago. Derek was living up to his assholeish reputation by refusing to buy an A/C unit so he could ogle his boyfriend as he wandered around the loft mostly naked.
