Summary
Simon died on that moon; alone and in pain, and at last full of hope for something other than himself. He had torn free from a threadbare crucifixion, retrieved the black box and sent it safely on its way, and when the end had come, he had faced it head-on and taken a monster down with him. He had died, it was an inescapable fact. And so, it was a great surprise when he found himself washing up on the shore of an impossible beach, resting beneath a false sky; alive and breathing, and met by a man with a smile like the sun. It was a difficult thing, to unlearn death when it had once been all you lived for, but maybe he didn’t have to do it alone.
