Summary
“What the fuck?” Steve blurts. Again. He's starting to lose count of how often it's been. “Who do you even think you are, you fucking weirdo?”
The guy cocks his head in confusion, but only for a second. Then, that infuriating grin slips back on. He's handsome, in a dangerous and rugged way, with his wild hair and bruised lip.
“Apologies, he rumbles. “Where are my manners?”
And then, without getting up off the ground, he reaches out and takes Steve’s hand in his. Steve watches, heart in his throat and eyes wide with confusion, how the guy bends into a dramatic bow and reverently kisses his own blood off his raw knuckles.
“The name is Edward. King Edward of the Woodland Mountains. Also oh-so-aptly known as Edward the Banished, though my friends just call me Eddie. And you, my dear …”
He looks up, all glinting eyes under dark lashes and Steve needs to swallow against the lump clogging his throat.
“You're going to be the one who saves me.”

“Who’s the homo?” came Robin’s voice, affectionately, over his shoulder, as he stopped his scroll mid-record.
“Huh?” he cocked his head to look back at her, a disgusted grimace on his face.
“Half of those movies are gay as hell and the other half are horror movies so whose record are you looking at?”
“Eddie’s.”
“Oh, Eddie. Interesting.”
“You think Eddie’s gay?”
“I mean, yeah. Don’t you?”
“We don’t know that. Maybe his uncle is gay and he rents them for him?”
“Including the porn?”
Steve studied the list again, focusing in on the ratings column, identifying the culprits immediately. “Those could be straight porn.”
“Boys Who Beg sounds particularly straight to you?”
“I don’t know, I’ve been in some situations where I could see myself begging if things had gone differently.”
It’s Spring 2003 and Eddie Munson just survived the Upside Down. Now he has to make it to graduation in one piece without losing his heart.

“May I?” Steve asks, and it’s all the warning Eddie gets before a broad palm splays flat across his lower back, pushing his ass toward the mat while the other hand snakes around his front and gently curls over his hip bone. “How’s that?”
“Nngh,” is all Eddie manages to say, strangled by exertion and arousal and pure fucking— he doesn’t even know what. It sounds like a garbage disposal grinding a fork inside his head.
Steve just laughs, amused but not unkind, and he pushes a little harder and says, “Here, try dropping to your knees,” keeping Eddie in alignment as he guides his lower body to the floor. “Don’t want you to hurt your back.”
The hand at the base of Eddie’s spine slides up, claps him on the shoulder, and then Steve’s upside down smile is swinging into view, his hair flopping over his handsome face. “Better?” he winks, and no, that’s so much worse.
