Ryland wakes up on a planet 16.5 light years from home with nearly 2 decades worth of memories missing. There’s a lot of jagged edges around events from his life that he wishes remained buried. Grace has been on Erid for about six months. Things have quieted down. Grace isn’t as sick anymore. He’s eating normally, mostly healed, and not actively dying. Rocky doesn’t need to spend every waking moment with him. Rocky can actually resume living a normal life. Grace doesn’t need Rocky, anymore.
Grace has severely underestimated how much he needs Rocky.
Or: What happens when a very codependent Grace tries to separate himself from his best friend, Rocky? Who, by chance, also happens to be very codependent?
Oh, right. And he’s in love with Rocky. And he doesn’t know it yet.

Summary
Zoochosis refers to the patterns of behavior noted across many species in response to prolonged isolation within a cramped, unchanging environment. It often presents in the form of repetitive movements or vocalizations ranging from benign to self-destructive. Frequently performed without the subjects input nor knowledge.
Many humans have theories regarding widespread zoochosis symptoms amongst sentient life on their planet. Some mentioning crowding zoochosis, in which said symptoms presented due to overcrowded conditions and a lack of dynamic environment.
Eridians did not. The hum of the planet itself was never far from perception even in the space elevator. And the sound of other Eridians was a constant, ever changing comfort. No one from Erid was ever truly alone.
Until Rocky.
