Annabeth’s having a shitty week.
At least one of her index fingers is fractured, the doors of all the cabinets in her shitty kitchen are wrecked from the earthquake—the earthquake, good grief, in New York City—she totalled her bike on Monday while she was trying to swerve out of the way of a hellhound, and, to really top it all off, one of her coworkers shot himself in the head two days ago.
She’s having a shitty week.
What makes it worse is that there’s a pretty solid case to be made that at least half of the shittiness is of Annabeth’s own making. There’s a near-hermetically sealed bag of C4 in a tote bag in the drawer of her oven that can attest to that.
Alternatively: when Matt and Jess find Annabeth's notes on the Midland Circle blueprints the architect had been using to plan his C4 distribution, they decide to pay her a visit. It goes downhill from there, and soon Annabeth finds herself involved with a group of vigilantes united only by the secret society of ninjas that is trying to kill them all.
