Rick stared, and the world around Shane became blurry, quickly fading out of focus. It felt like his head was underwater — Rick could hear his heartbeat in his ears and it felt like something was pushing down on his chest which made him unable to take in a full breath. He looked towards the catwalk and she wasn’t there. For the first time Rick really wished that she would be. This had to be one of his ghosts, because how else could he be standing here, staring at him? Because Shane was dead, Rick had left him there and he had been happy to do so. He hadn’t cared at all, he’d been relieved, yet every night like clockwork he thought about him before he fell asleep.
