We need to talk. Can we meet at the park tomorrow?
In the fifty-seven minutes between Bernard sending this text and receiving Tim’s reply (of course, I’ll meet you there at three), Tim dug through medical records, accident reports, police reports, and criminal databases to try and figure out what could be wrong. He checked in with Bruce, Barbara, Dick, and even Barry (who happened to be on duty in the Watchtower) to completely rule out villain activity. He even— and this was a new low— asked Damian if he’d heard anything about recent League activity. It was a long shot, but Tim wouldn’t put it past Ra’s to have kidnapped his boyfriend. For what ends, Tim didn’t like to consider.
But there was nothing. Everywhere he checked, things were quiet. And when Dick put on his careful-not-to-spook-the-wild-animal voice toward the end of their call, Tim couldn’t deny it any longer.
He was about to get broken up with.
This was not a good feeling.

Five minutes later, he sits back on his bed, pillow clutched triumphantly in his hands. Patrick is splayed out across his own bed, breathing hard with his hair curling out in five different directions. Jonny smugly clicks the television off with the remote, and then tosses the pillow next to him so he can climb under the sheets. Patrick sits up after a minute, tucks his hand under his chin and abruptly swipes his hand out into a point, straight at Jonny, with a glare.
Jonny blinks, and then Patrick translates. It figures the first thing Jonny’d learn in sign language is 'fuck you'.

How it went with his girl last night is finally going to the drive-in movie like she’d wanted, down in a field outside Portland that’s swelteringly hot in the July evening, and Jan climbing into his lap in the driver’s seat and sliding her knee up the cracked leather until it met the join of his thighs, and Ray pulling her in with hands on the floral church dress she wore. Comfortable and easy with her just like always until, hitting him like lightning in a summer storm: the thought of how he’d describe it to Pete.

In the grand scheme of things, seeing Roy cheerfully walk out the door wasn’t that painful. It didn’t hurt as much as dying. It didn’t hurt as much as coming back. Still, Jason didn’t actually like pain, and he knew if he gently demurred the next time, Roy would hear him. It was the smart thing to do, and that was why he already knew he would never, ever do it.
Roy shifted in his sleep, pressing closer to Jason, his strong arm slung heavy over Jason’s waist, his chest a furnace against Jason’s back. This was a bad idea. It had always been a bad idea, and it would be an even worse one in the morning.
But for now, Jason was warm.

It never once occurred to Charles Rowland that he might know more about ghost rules than Edwin Payne.
He also never anticipated that their latest client, some poor bloke whose vampy partner got a little too overzealous while trying to turn him and ended up sucking him dry, would ask them, “Can ghosts still, you know, have a wank?”
“Sure,” Charles says with a shrug, just as Edwin exclaims, “Absolutely not!”

Charles discovers that Edwin has not been taking full advantage of their ghostly abilities, so he offers to lend a helping hand.
