Summary
Being an R2 is great. Dennis is a real doctor, with an amazing boyfriend, and the best coworkers ever who have become family. The ER is still chaotic, and the days are long, and people manage to injure themselves in more creative ways than he ever could have imagined, but he finally feels like he's got his feet under him. Until the ER gods decide to remind him that "not much surprises me anymore" is a challenge on par with using the Q word on a full moon.
Or, a venomous snake is loose in the emergency room. Of course, this is Dennis's problem.

Summary
"Why'd you run out of insulin?"
Dennis didn't answer.
"Dennis."
A shaky breath.
"...I... stretched it."
Robby's jaw clenched.
"What do you mean you stretched it?"
"...Didn't... have enough..."
"...Enough for what?"
Dennis swallowed hard.
"...Couldn't... afford... another refill..."
Silence.
Trinity's head snapped toward him.
"You've been rationing your insulin?"
Dennis wouldn't look at any of them.
"...Only... when I had to..."
Jack slowly closed his eyes.
Robby just stared at Dennis, his face unreadable.
When he finally spoke, his voice was quiet.
"...We're going to have a very long conversation once your sugar comes up."

Summary
When Dennis agreed to cover shifts for Dr. Mohan on the night shift, he didn't think he would ever end up here. Kidnapped from the ambulance bay, his head pounding, and having to save the life of a man with limited medical supplies. That was supposed to be it. Somehow, he finds himself snatched up off a sidewalk, in the stables, in front of his home. There were no sacred spaces when you proved your worth.
In the middle of it all, Dennis is confused by the way Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot are circling him. The way they'd reach out and brush their fingers against his skin. The way they made sure he ate, got rest, and stayed safe. It made him ache with something he hadn't felt in a long time.

Summary
Jack Abbot's life has embodied the mundane for the past ten years of his life, and he likes it that way. After the loss of his wife, Jack Abbot retreated into pattern; shift, sleep, shift sleep. He doesn't plan to change it any time soon. Dennis Whitaker's life has been permeated by shame and guilt, despite his measly attempts to punch out of it for the sake of his best friend. Nebraska stains his soul, threatening to mark his heart forever. When Jack and Dennis bump into each other at a bar, a flame has been lit that cannot be put out, each to the surrender of one and other.

Summary
{a few hours sounded like a lifetime with how he was feeling. Every time he swallowed it felt like razor blades were sliding down his throat. That paired lovely with the way his head felt like it was stuffed with cotton. And, his personal favorite was the way he was sweating, his scrub top slightly clinging to his back}
Basically, Dennis is sick and (un)surprisingly he tries to keep working! despite being deathly ill! And he works himself until he collapses! :)
