When Scout pays Sniper a visit in his campervan to hang out like they usually do… He never in a million years would’ve guessed he’d end up confessing his feelings for the man, much less have them be reciprocated.
AKA, Scout visits Sniper in his van, and somehow ends up confessing his feelings AND making out with him, AND confessing that he’s actually trans, AND it makes no difference because Sniper just loves him for HIM… and then they make out again.

it was too easy, maybe. Scout barely felt the chain give way, just a small tug and then nothing, lost somewhere in the tangle of sheets and sweat and the dark of the caravan. He didn't notice until he was halfway back to base, boots crunching on gravel, hand going to his chest on instinct.

All Scout knew was that Sniper kissed him sometimes— hard, thorough kisses that left him breathless and stupid— and some other times, he sat close enough that their shoulders touched while talking about bullet wounds and the migratory patterns of birds Scout had never heard of.They’d fooled around, sure. Hands under shirts, mouths on necks... The one memorable afternoon in the back of Sniper’s van where Sniper had gotten a hand down the front of Scout's trousers and promptly forgot how his own lungs worked.
But they hadn’t— They hadn’t gone all the way. Not yet, at least.

Alternatively: Sniper and Scout are star gazing. Scout is determined to finally have sex with Sniper, outdoors.
