Summary
Kaeya observed her, his eyes narrowing at her hesitation. He could tell there was something on her mind. His suspicions further confirmed as she continued to avoid his gaze. “Jean,” he said, his voice firm, “Just tell me. What happened?” He leaned forward on his desk, studying her.
Jean's face took on a grim look. "There's no easy way to say this, so I'm just going to be direct. There's been an incident." She took a breath. "It's Diluc." No Master attached, but just Diluc.

Summary
The room he found himself in was roughly the size of a small bedroom. The floor and walls were made of stone, rough to touch and dark in color. The only light was a lamp in the corner. The room felt damp, the air musky and cold. As his eyes adjusted, he took stock of what was in the room. Along the wall was a sink, crude and rusted, barely holding onto the cracked stone wall behind it. The basin was shallow and chipped, and covered in layers of grime and mineral deposits. Next to it was a toilet in state not much better, but at least it wasn’t covered in too much grime.
Diluc’s mind raced with thoughts, trying to piece together the puzzle of events that led him here. He tried to remember the last thing he had been doing before losing consciousness, but his mind was still foggy. The last thing he did remember was paperwork and he was at the winery for that. Sometime after, he received a message from his informant about… something… treasure hoarders? Maybe it was Fatui? He groaned as his head throbbed.

Summary
As they walked, Diluc noticed he still couldn’t quite catch his breath no matter how deeply he breathed. The adrenaline from the battle had faded, leaving him with a tight sensation in his chest. Kaeya, seemingly oblivious to Diluc’s discomfort, kept up his usual banter, his words echoing in Diluc’s ears but not fully registering.
Diluc tried to take slow, deep breaths, but the tightness persisted. The walk back was supposed to be a quiet moment of reflection, but now it was turning into a struggle to keep walking.
His heart was racing, anxiety bubbling up, almost tangible, as panic started to set in. It’s as if the oxygen is slipping away, just out of reach.

Summary
The snow glistened across the frozen landscape. It was quiet, contrasting the series of events that happened minutes before. Groupings of trees littered the area, scars and notches marred many of them. Three figures stand above a fourth, their prone form in the snow. Their red hair is no longer tied in a ponytail, instead mixing with the river of blood flowing from their head.
Diluc gets killed by Harbingers during his time away from Mondstadt and Dottore brings him back.

Summary
“But what is this gift of 200 years living without being able to look into his eyes again?” Pantalone furrowed his eyebrows, his expression saddened.
Now it was 65 who was looking to the side. His mask threw a shadow to the wall. It almost looked like he was thinking carefully about what to say next.

Summary
"I've asked around, Diluc. Everyone says that you seem more distracted lately."
"There is no correlation! For all you know, I could be distracted by some unforseen problem you knights have yet to discover."
Lohen smirked. "But is it really that, Master Diluc?"
————
After learning that Diluc has been targetted, Lohen decides to task himself with walking the winery owner home. And walking him home obviously entails railing him, no questions asked.

Summary
Dottore catches his wrist, pulling him forcefully back when he makes for the door.
“Didn’t you hear me?” he asks. “I said I love you.”
“And I heard you,” says Pantalone. In retaliation at the way Dottore manhandled him, he pulls the scientist toward him by his tie and kisses him hard enough for it to be unpleasant. A moment later, he pushes Dottore back. “I have some paperwork to finish,” he says, lifting his briefcase for show. “You wouldn’t want your funding approval to be delayed, would you? I’ll see you for dinner.”
It irritates him to no end that Pantalone won’t believe Dottore loves him.
Sequel to Hypothesis.
