Summary
Here's my finished version of art #99 of the Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang 2025 exchange. My prompt was picked up by the wonderful Lithdraug who wrote a thrilling longfic for it - of Bilbo setting out (rather involuntarily) to destroy the one ring. Cheering each other on with our projects over the summer was wonderful!
Please visit the story The courage of a Hobbit and give it love - it holds a special place in my heart and I couldn’t be prouder of this fic that grew well out of it's original planned lenght and like a Mearas ran off with us both.

Silas - sanctioned assassin who certainly did not set out this day to kill a dragon, finding himself acting out of character and possibly regretting the previous ten minutes.
He, and the person currently obscured within both a cloud of sand and a redball* shield of magic belongs to the story Star Crossed Blades by that-old-chestnut (Conkers) that I'm following and enjoying so much!*Even with a new toy to play with, the dragon is not happy. Pfff, dragons.

In a Middle Earth where dwarves dream of Heartsongs and hobbits carry the name of their fated partner as private Mark, Bilbo Baggins had never been able to properly translate the strange rows of runes inscribed on his wrist.
And likewise, Thorin Oakenshield had never imagined he would hear the voice of his Heartsong from a fussy little gentlehobbit.

Summary
On the morning of the twenty-sixth of February in the year ninety-one of the Fourth Age, Dwalin, Son of Fundin, died.
On the evening of the twenty sixth of April in the year two thousand nine hundred and forty-one of the Third Age, it became quickly apparent that death was only a minor inconvenience.
Dwalin has another plan this time around. One that involves returning a certain piece of evil jewellery directly to sender before Sauron gains a foothold on Middle Earth. Maybe it’ll save a few people he cares about. Maybe he’ll get a little longer with his husband.
And maybe, just maybe, he’s not the only one doing this a second time over.
Split POV, plenty of Nwalin, Gigolas and Bagginshield.

Summary
Bilbo Baggins steps in front of the wrong confrontation and pays for it in chains. Sold at the slave markets of Gundabad, he refuses to become what this place intends to make him. Through cunning, stubbornness, and a fury he didn’t know he possessed, he survives long enough to catch the attention of someone far more dangerous. Now he belongs to Azog, and the rules are simple: fight, or die.
He is not the only one trying to survive.
Thorin Oakenshield has been in the mountain for months — fighting, enduring, keeping his expectations low and his feelings lower still. He does not intend to let anyone in. He especially does not intend to let in the impossible small creature who keeps winning when he has no business winning, and who has a habit of appearing exactly when Thorin needs him most.
Outside, Fíli and Kíli are searching for their uncle. When the Thain of the Shire starts looking for his own missing grandson, an unlikely alliance is forged, and a plan begins to take shape — fragile, dangerous, and dependent on two people inside Gundabad staying alive long enough to be reached.
