Summary
“Suki, I’m not even a girl. He’s going to know that I’m not his date,” Sokka groaned. Sometimes he didn’t know how he got himself into these situations. He’d like to say that he wasn’t a sucker for a challenge, but he had no clue how Suki thought some heels and make-up would hide his manliness.
“Yeah, sure. If you don’t let me dress you up,” Suki responded, holding a make-up brush threateningly in his direction, “Don’t you know make-up is just a step away from witchcraft?”

Summary
“Why did you break up with Zuko?” Jet asks.
“I don’t know, I don’t know!” Sokka is sobbing. Zuko doesn’t look distraught. Only determined. Like if he fights hard enough, maybe he can stop this breakup from happening. “I don’t know,” Sokka says again. But Sokka does know. It’s because Sokka turned his life upside down to live in Caldera, but Zuko never once considered moving South. It’s because when they got together, Sokka’s job was to be hot and smart and funny, and then he got fat and stupid and sad. It’s because Zuko was broken but now he’s fixed and he doesn’t need Sokka anymore. It’s because Zuko set the rug on fire when he was angry and yes it was only one time and yes it was three months ago, but Sokka still thinks of it every time they argue. It’s because Sokka is so, very small and Zuko is the fucking sun. “I…I don’t know,” Sokka finishes weakly.
“We grew apart,” Sokka lies.
A story about old friends, shadows of colonization, and the complicated grief of loving someone who could kill you.

Summary
Sokka raises a brow as he takes in Zuko’s clearly run down appearance, head cocking in that irritating, knowing way of his. “Well I was planning to cuff you upside the head in front of all these people. But it looks like life has already done that for me.”
Zuko’s brow pinches, chest tightening at the frustrated tone he is treated to. “Are you mad at me for something?”
If anything, Sokka looks even more aggrieved. “Oh, I don’t know, it’s almost as if I received several letters from your council, and one very pointed one from your Uncle about this event.” His arms cross, and Zuko takes a deep breath to avoid staring at how his robes loosen in the front with the movement, splaying wider beneath the tension of his forearms. “I sure loved hearing from everyone but you that a search for the Firelord’s future spouse was happening.”
Or: Zuko is pressured into finding a spouse, and Sokka shows up to smack some sense into him (and get dicked down, nasty style)

Summary
[There’s a carefree smile on Bato’s face as he tells them, “You two seem great together.”
Sokka blinks at him a couple times, pretending he has no idea what he’s talking about.
Bato shrugs as he turns away. “It’s good to see you happy, Sokka,” he throws over his shoulder.
Sokka stares at him as he disappears out the door.
“Well,” he says without really thinking about it, “at least Bato approves.”]

Summary
“Well, well. What have we here?”
The voice sounds from behind him in the dark, and Zuko freezes.
No.
Not just freezes, is frozen, muscles taught and unresponsive as his arms stretch wide, blade clattering to the floor with a cacophonous noise. All of his movements are not his own, and he can’t fight against it at all.
Or: Zuko is sent to assassinate the Moon Spirit, and fails spectacularly. (he doesn't mind though)

Summary
Sokka can’t do this.
He can’t keep Katara and Gran Gran and the rest of the villagers safe, can’t protect them when the Fire Nation attacks. He may swing his machete around and practise with his boomerang, but at the end of the day the truth is this: he stands no chance against the Fire Nation soldiers when they attack—when because he knows without a doubt that they will, one day. Their armies are comprised of firebenders and the best fighters in their nation, and their soldiers have armour and an array of weapons at their disposal with which they cause destruction and rain havoc. Sokka’s just a boy, a kid, with a machete and a boomerang who cracks jokes to make his sister laugh, even if she almost always laughs at him rather than at his jokes. He doesn’t know how to fight, not really—no one ever taught him—but he’s still expected to keep everyone in the village safe.
Him. Alone.

Summary
“I’m literally the Fire Lord. I could buy you the clothing store itself and it would barely make a dent in my finances. Don’t worry about the expense of a simple set of robes,” Zuko brushed off Sokka’s concerns. He didn’t want to make the man uncomfortable with his gifts.
“That’s irresponsible and a complete humble brag but, touché,” Sokka said and the thought seemed to relax him.
“Besides, I like buying things for the people I care about.”
Zuko wasn’t sure if he was imagining the faint blush on Sokka’s cheeks or if it was from the glow of the candles on his friend’s face. He didn’t have long to try to decipher before Sokka was jumping into action.
“I’m going to put these on right now!” Sokka said excitedly.
And then proceed to strip down to his skivvies in Zuko’s bedroom.

Summary
Zuko woke and immediately realized what had happened. Sokka was still snuggled close to him underneath the pelts. Thank Agni he woke with the sunrise, he should still have time to get back to his ship before anyone-
The flap of Sokka's tent opened with a snap.
“Sokka, are you-” Hakoda stepped inside and looked straight at Zuko, modesty barely maintained beneath the pelts and lying damningly close to the Chief's son. Sokka stirred at the commotion and blearily lifted his head. “Huh? Dad?!”
Zuko moved his body to block Sokka from his father's view. If one of them was to be struck, or dragged out by their hair to kneel naked in the snow in front of the whole tribe, shame on display, Zuko would rather it was himself.
Hakoda walks in on his son after a night of pleasant company with the Fire Lord, his biggest question is simply why Sokka would hide something like this from him.
Zuko, raised in a country where their relationship is punishable by death, deals with the fallout.

Summary
"After Kya died, everything changed. Sokka was well aware despite his young age. He saw the way the men were preparing to follow his father in his thirst for revenge. He saw the way the women of the village listened to his Gran-Gran's words. He saw the way the fear of the ashburners returning tormented his sister. He knew then that he had to be brave like his father told him. He had to be brave no matter how terrified he was."
