He finds, a few seconds later, the source of the sound. A little girl, covered in dust and ratty clothes, clutching a piece of cloth that may be a blanket, sits in the middle of a small dip in the street. She’s wailing, tears making tracks down her face, cutting through the dust. Her hair is black, and her eyes are wide and brown.

"I Love You". A simple phrase that Jay tells her as common as if it were a greeting, but to her, those words always found themselves caught in her throat when she tried saying them back, fearful that her first time saying it would be her last. Instead, she opts to express her affection in other ways.
Or, 3 times Nya did something in place of 'I Love You', and one time she didn't.
