Summary
Lena casts her mind around for the last time she felt this unmoored, this off-balance, by a woman, and can't come up with anything. Kara Danvers is unlike anybody that Lena has ever met; the sweetest, bubbliest person Lena’s yet to come across, and simultaneously one of the saddest, who is probably lying to everyone that she meets. It’s an impossible contradiction to wrap your head around, and Lena should probably stop hiding in this bathroom and trying.

Kara is a senior in high school when a student transfers, who is immediately the center of attention. Her surname is notorious, but no one knew that the Luthors had a daughter. She is silent, keeps to herself, and others avoid her presence. It seems as if she prefers it that way, but they cannot help but be drawn to one another, something more gradually blossoming between them. However, as soon as they get closer, trauma separates them, only for them to find their ways back to each other almost ten years later.
But a Super and a Luthor? Impossible.

She shifted in the stretcher and froze. There, standing regally outside of the mammoth sized door to Mount Weather was the most gorgeous woman Clarke had ever seen. Her head, no longer foggy with exhaustion took stock of every detail it could.
Her posture was ram-rod straight and all of the Grounders stayed behind her unless they were doing actual work. Her chin tipped up to exaggerate a truly sharp jawline that disappeared into thick wavy brown hair, braided intricately. She turned her head and suddenly the most green eyes she’d ever seen were locked on hers.

Clarke comes to Polis to kill Lexa and stays because it's the path of least resistance, or at least that’s what she tells herself. This fic starts at the knife scene in the season 3 trailer and then takes on a life of its own from there. (Happy ending included.)
