    He takes Scott home to the cheap motel he's staying in and gets pressed into the mattress with just the right amount of pressure, the right amount of care. Scott's hands don't linger on the scar on his abdomen.

    No, he presses a kiss to it instead, and that's it. And he feels good. Chris can't remember the last time someone was this gentle with him in all the right ways without him having to tell, without him having to translate himself into words that barely cover the meaning.

    Darker blue eyes; dirty blond hair. He groans, whines when he almost remembers something with his hands in Scott's hair, but then Scott's mouth is on him and all Chris can do is fist the bedsheets while his life flits away.

    Chris has to laugh, because if he doesn’t, he’ll explode. “Yeah,” he agrees, “I am too.”

    It shouldn’t make any sense. It’s just him and Claire, sitting on his fire escape, her nose scrunched at him while he exhales smoke into her space. They had been silent up until she spoke, but he knows. “Can’t you just talk to him?” She pleads, pushing the hand holding his cigarette away from herself. She quit years ago. Chris still allows himself this one vice.

    He thinks about it. He could. It isn’t like it’s never occurred to him. But he replies, “Nah. We’re not good together.”

    Well. Maybe he allows himself more than one vice.
