Summary
Troy had read a lot about different methods of taking your own life back in Toronto. Drowning had been a common one, but also one Troy had immediately crossed out, even when making his purely hypothetical list.
It sounded painful. Everyone who survived described the burning of your lungs, the pain of choking on the water, the sudden instinct from your body to fight for survival.
Troy didn’t feel like that now. It felt like he could breathe in and welcome that floating feeling inside of him too. Like he could finally be free of the burden on his soul if he flooded it and let his troubles rise to the top.

Ilya had considered—back when they’d all thought that Troy was an asshole, if one that was at least attempting to reform—that he should make sure Troy knew to be careful with Harris’s heart. He’d never thought he’d need to make sure Harris was careful with Troy’s. “Harris,” Ilya said, “why did you tell Troy you wanted to see other people?”

Troy was just placing the tray of coffee and food on the desk, shrugging his bag off his shoulder, when he heard the door behind him open. He turned around, ready to greet his boyfriend, only to feel his brain short-circuit the second he laid eyes on him.
The last time he had seen Harris, he had been standing in their bedroom in his boxers and a graphic t-shirt. A shirt not so dissimilar to the kinds Harris usually wore to work, only in public, they were often paired with pants and a sweater, maybe a jean jacket.
Right now, Harris was dressed in a suit.
And he looked really, really good.
