Summary
The ways of the desert empire made little sense to those not aware of the dangers that stalked the vast expanse of dirt and sand in the suffocating silence of night. But the citizens were smart, learning the abstract rules that kept the desert at bay, and they would do well to remember them. You’d think them fools for believing in the lies they’d created to protect themselves from a threat that they had never seen, and for that, they’d scoff.

The Harbinger has been left to wander the desert as a ghost of his former himself. After losing his title as Tumble Town's Sheriff, Jimmy has formed a plan to avenge the respect and honor that was wrongfully taken from him many months ago. Traveling to a northern town known as Cardinal Row, he must rely on the help of bandits and gunslingers in order to enact revenge before his time runs out. Along the way, however, he comes across a familiar face that he'd very much rather forget. Or shoot dead.
Whichever tempts him more.

Summary
The call of winter graces the empire of Glimmer Grove earlier than anticipated and Katherine must face the cold without the familiar presence of the darkness that had grasped her home. How could she hope to tell the difference when she can no longer see it?
OR: Katherine’s mind convinces her that the setting cold of winter might be the curse returning, even if she knows that winter is an inevitability she has faced for many years. Still, something about no longer being able to directly see the differences between the decay of the curse and the slow wilting of flowers scares her more than she could have ever dreamed.

This cold was an all encompassing dread that froze his blood stiff and drained the life both from and around him. A suffocating, numbing cold. Not the cold that made his teeth clatter and his skin burn with the desperate need for warmth. He felt like he was drowning. That whatever he should be feeling was being taken out to the back of his mind and mercilessly shot down.
