He tries not to dwell on it. A boy as fascinating as Daniel doesn’t want the things society tells him he should be thinking about at his age—a wife, children, the dream of conformity and suburbia that compels this infant country.
Yet, as Daniel drags him to the bedroom and falls asleep, he can’t help but think.

Summary
When Daniel returned from Dubai he bought himself a coffin. Out of some sense of poetry, or perhaps irony, it was the same coffin he’d chosen months before, intended for his funeral and now repurposed into his new (un)life. He set it up next to his bed and looked at it for a long moment, laughed at it a little for its gothic symbolism which was so out of place in his modern apartment, then attempted to sleep in the thing.
