A wrecked laugh boiled over in his chest. The children of stone had the right to despise him just as much if not more than his mortal kindred; and fate had sent him a kindhearted dwarf.
A terrible irony that had him doubling over—oh, he needed to stop; his insides hurt too badly.
A hand settled, gently, on his shoulder, startling the elf. Varric was looking at him like he was mad—and in all fairness he felt absolutely stark raving. His laughs turned to hiccups and perhaps sobs, but—but the dwarf was warm.

Summary
Iorveth had been ‘sick’ since he abondoned Saskia. The worse he got the more his men began to doubt him. A risky decision to raid a Nilfgaardian supply depot results in Iorveth being taken prisoner; wherein he catches the eye of a rather vicious Officer who has an unnatural fascination with the elven form.
Roche, unwittingly, stumbles across his old rival during a successful ambush. The elf is withdrawn and sullen, after months of being subject to then unwanted attention of Nilfgaards finest.
Maybe its pity, or something deeper, but Roche finds himself helping piece Iorveth back together.

Elves are like merfolk, when in an environment lacking any she-elves or elflings nature finds a way. This phenomenal is spurned by elven kind and the ‘athraigh’ are both pitied and reviled. But on a continent where most she-elves are old and sterile and less then a few dozen Aen Seidhe have been born over the last decade the more common it becomes.
