No, these eyes were wide with fear. Glassy. Rimmed with caution, like the kid saw Ness as a threat. Ness felt something clench in his chest painfully.
His throat felt dry, words catching before he finally managed a hoarse whisper. “…Kaiser?”
[ Ness wakes up to find Kaiser missing. Instead, his place, was a little, traumatised child who went by the name of Michael. The rest of BM are equally as bewildered and baffled. ]

Ness reached over to card through his hair, blonde locks getting dirtier by the week. For as long as they’d known each other, the boy had kept up some walls. The two things that were off limits were his hair and his name.
This was a story Ness had seen play out one too many times. A childhood bereft of affection, a fundamental desire of the human heart. He thought of himself, not tormented, but understanding, willing. He was someone who could give, who had to give, because the need was so vast and he couldn’t ignore it.
